Michael Beauboeuf, grandson of lifelong Chappy resident Jerry Jeffers, will attend Harvard University in the fall.

Michael is a member of the Wampanoag tribe of Aquinnah and a senior at the Mystic Valley Regional Charter High School in Malden.

He will be attending Harvard as a winner of a Gates Milennium Scholarship. The Gates scholarships are extraordinarily competitive with over 20,000 very bright students applying each year. The scholarships are given based on academic excellence and community service and can potentially be renewed through a doctorate degree.

Michael also received a scholarship from the Arlington Boys’ and Girls’ Club, where he has volunteered as a youth leader throughout his high school career.

While at Mystic Valley, Michael was active in the school newspaper and winner of awards for excellence in math, biology and Spanish. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and named on the high honor roll.

Michael lives in Medford with his father, Emmanuel, mother, Lolita Jeffers Beauboeuf, and sister, Elyse.
