The Vineyard Playhouse opens its popular summer series of new work — the Monday Night Special — with the reading of a new play by actor, director and playwright Thomas Kee, Inside My Hidden Room, on Monday, June 14 At 7:30 p.m. at the playhouse, 24 Church street in downtown Vineyard Haven.

The play is about a Boston woman who has lost hope in her ability to have a positive impact in the world around her — until she finds inspiration in a trunk . Elizabeth discovers a trunk belonging to the late Irish Nationalist writer Maud Gonne. Laura Latreille will be starring in the reading.

Mr. Kee’s previous playhouse projects include Ronan Noone’s The Blowin of Baile Gall, and Donald Margulies’ Dinner with Friends.

General seating tickets are available in advance or at the door for a suggested donation of $10. The Monday Night Special series is generously sponsored by the Liman Foundation.

The reading begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes a brief question and answer period with Mr. Kee, cast and audience. An informal reception follows downstairs in the lobby. Proceeds from the Monday Night Specials benefit the Vineyard Playhouse. The theatre is fully accessible and air-conditioned.
