Police Receive Grant

The Oak Bluffs police department has won a $5,000 federal grant to enforce underage alcohol laws. The money will be used to keep minors away from alcohol through compliance checks in liquor stores, party patrols and so-called cops in shops. There were 30 federal grants awarded totaling over $225,000 from the Executive Office of Safety and Public Security. “Any loss on our roadways is one to many and this program will help too reduce the instances of impaired driving,” said Oak Bluffs police Lieut. Timothy Williams in a statement.
