Julienne Turner has taken the helm at MVTV as station manager and executive director, bringing more than a decade of community television experience at stations in Hawaii, Oregon and New Hampshire.

She aims to demystify the technical world behind the scenes of television production and empowering members to create their own content.

“My personal passion is in working with youth,” Ms. Turner said in a statement. Her vision for the station includes stronger connections with the towns, schools, nonprofit organizations, and the community to increase involvement and grow the membership.

Located at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, MVTV offers residents a chance to get on the air. Membership is $25, and free for students. Benefits include education and training on camera, editing and studio production as well as the ability to air programming on MVTV channel 13. Once members have successfully completed the training course, their use of MVTV’s state-of-the-art production equipment is free of charge. All programming must be noncommercial and meet other MVTV programming guidelines.

MVTV broadcasts is found on cable channel 13 for local programming, channel 14 for education and channel 15 for government and is now also available ‘on demand’ at mvtv.org.
