The Education Department at Mass Audubon’s Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary has selected Jacob Gurney as recipient of the James K. Whittemore Young Naturalist Award. This annual award recognizes campers for their outstanding participation and contribution to environmental excellence during Mass Audubon’s summer 2009 camp season.

Jacob’s nominating counselors describe him as an “exuberant and enthusiastic camper with an obvious passion for nature whose curiosity is contagious!” Jacob’s knowledge of natural history is extensive and his willingness to share what he knows with his group embodies Felix Neck’s mission to educate youth and adults about the nature of Martha’s Vineyard and inspire a commitment to conservation.

Jacob will receive this award during Fern and Feather Camp Circle at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, July 16 at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.
