Miss Hall’s School announces that senior Maili Scott, of Vineyard Haven, received the Margaret Witherspoon Award, the school’s highest honor, and the Sylvia “Rusty” Shethar Everdell ’38 Prize during the school’s 112th Commencement ceremonies.

Maili, the daughter of Jonathan and Hannah Scott, was also among the students who shared the 2010 Christine Fuller Holland ’33 Service Prize, and she was named a recipient of the Meus Honor Stat key, one of the School’s highest awards for leadership and citizenship.

The Witherspoon Award is given annually to a student who exemplifies the qualities of integrity and honor. The Everdell Prize is for the student who has demonstrated an extraordinary desire to develop her natural athletic talents through competition, an ability to achieve goals through perseverance and the willingness to assume risks when faced with a challenge.

The Holland Prize honors volunteerism. Meus Honor Stat Keys are awarded to students who possess and have displayed qualities of maturity, loyalty, genuine warmth and respect for the principles for which the school stands.

Maili has been an honor roll student and an active member of the school community as a proctor, senior class vice president, and standout athlete.

A three-year varsity starter on lacrosse, Maili cocaptained this year’s team, started four years for varsity basketball, and started three years for the varsity field hockey team, captaining both of those squads as well.

She will attend St. Lawrence University this fall.
