Please Adopt Us

A beautiful young unneutered male orange tiger cat was brought to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday, July 21 — he was found wandering at night on the West Tisbury Road in Edgartown, not far from the golf course. If he is your cat, please call the Animal Shelter at 508-627-8662 — otherwise he will be put up for adoption when he is neutered. He’s very friendly and must belong to someone.

A reminder to summer residents as well as year-rounders: if a stray cat wanders into your yard, please do not feed it. The best thing to do if you find a stray is to call the animal control officer in your town and report it. The nonemergency telephone number at the communications center is 508-693-1212.

We have one new dog — a beautiful, friendly four-year-old Boxer cross named Katama. She is spayed and has had all her shots.

Cats available for adoption are Binx, an all-black cat with white markings and long white whiskers; Phoebe, an orange and white female; Dolly an all-black cat; Ananda, a yellow tiger; Gracie, a long-haired, very sweet gray cat; Cleo, an older cat who just needs to find a soft lap to cuddle in; Miss Misty, a sweet little tiger tabby who needs to be an only cat; Olive, a bobtailed tortoiseshell; and Cyrus, our all-black shelter mascot.

Please stop by the shelter! Hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Soon there will be several smoky gray kittens ready for adoption; check with us in a week or so. They are adorable.
