Sisters Marlee Brewster Brockmann and Patience Brewster will be feted with an artists’ reception for their new exhibition on Sunday, August 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Field Gallery in West Tisbury.

Marlee Brewster Brockmann’s paintings are mood-driven, sensitive explorations of the landscape, simultaneously calm and mysterious. Art critic Robert Knox describes her paintings as being like “waking after a dream with some of that dream still in your eyes.” Extensive traveling in Mexico has brought color and energy to her newest body of work, full of turquoise agave fields and golden sunsets.

Patience Brewster is a prolific artist and illustrator with more than 30 children’s books and many gallery exhibits to her credit. The whimsical charm and wit of her work has won many hearts over the years. She has a new series of whimsical drawings that bring life and meaning to a world of playful fiction, where animals, tea cups, pencils and the like come to life.

The Field Gallery is across from Alley’s General Store. The reception is free and open to the public.
