The Rev. Hal Taussig will be the guest preacher at Union Chapel this Sunday, August 1. This will be his fourth visit to the historic chapel. The title of his sermon is Losing Balloons at the Beach, based on the theme of leisure and crisis. The service begins at 10 a.m. preceded by organ preludes by Garrett Brown at 9:40 a.m.

Rev. Taussig serves as Professor of New Testament at Union Theological Seminary in New York, copastor of the Chestnut Hill United Church in Philadelphia, Pa., and professor of Early Christianity at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, Pa. He is the author of seven books including In the Beginning Was the Meal, Social Experimentation and Early Christian Identity, A New Spiritual Home, Progressive Christianity at the Grass Roots, and Jesus Before God: The Prayer Life of the Historical Jesus.

Union Chapel is located at the foot of Kennebec and Circuit avenues in Oak Bluffs. It is non-denominational and welcomes all to participate. Summer attire is acceptable.
