There will be a work session on the visual impact of wind turbines on scenic resources on Wednesday, August 11, in conjunction with the preparation of a Wind Energy Plan for Dukes County.

Mark London, executive director of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, will begin the session with a presentation outlining how these issues might be dealt with, both on land and offshore. This includes the identification of the most scenic areas and significant viewsheds on the Island, and possible measures to minimize the impacts of wind turbines. It also will deal with minimizing impacts on abutters. The work session will include a question and answer period.

The session will start at 5 p.m. and admission is free. It is being held in the Howes House in West Tisbury, across from Alley’s.

Members of planning boards and zoning boards of appeal, building inspectors and members of the public are invited to attend.
