Island Planning

After the fair, the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury will not be unoccupied for long: on Wednesday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m., a forum on the Island Plan is open to all who care about the future of Martha’s Vineyard — from its energy and commerce, to the environment and housing, to culture and community relations.

Titled, How Can We Use the Island Plan to Make a Better Future for Martha’s Vineyard?, the forum will outline the key points in the plan, adopted this past winter, and invite public input into how the Vineyard community can bring such plans into reality. It will be led by Island Plan steering committee chairman Jim Athearn and Martha’s Vineyard Commission executive director Mark London. Admission is free. For details, call 508-693-3453.
