Archaeology experts will identify, examine and discuss any artifacts, from the Vineyard and beyond, that members of the public bring to Archaeology I.D. Day at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum on Saturday, August 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.

As part of the museum’s archaeology lecture series, experts Jill Bouck, Dick Burt, Duncan Caldwell, Bill Moody and Jim Richardson will help identify objects.

A research associate of the Carnegie Museum, Ms. Bouck recently retired as chief curator of the museum and participated in archaeological excavations and historical projects on the Vineyard.

Mr. Burt has been involved in the archaeology of Martha’s Vineyard since the 1950s and participated in many archaeological and historical projects on the Vineyard. He is a research associate of the Carnegie Museum and a member of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society.

Mr. Caldwell is a noted archaeologist who has conducted research on Paleolithic cave art in France and North Africa. He also has been involved with Vineyard archaeology for decades and is a member of the American Society for Amateur Archaeology and other professional organizations.

Mr. Moody has conducted research on the archaeology of Martha’s Vineyard for many years. He is a member of the American Society for Amateur Archaeology and the Massachusetts Archaeological Society.

Mr. Richardson is a retired archaeologist from the Carnegie Museum and the University of Pittsburgh. He has conducted research on the Vineyard, Western Pennsylvania and in Peru.

Admission for museum members is free and $7 for nonmembers.
