Please Adopt Us

Kittens galore! We have some of the sweetest, prettiest kittens you have ever seen at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. They will be ready to be adopted in a couple of weeks, so please come and see them and put your name on our kitten list. The shelter also has two absolutely adorable black female kittens that are about 11 weeks old, and ready to go to new homes. Our other cats are: Binx, a female black and white inside cat who is rather shy but loves to be petted; Phoebe, another inside cat, ginger and white and very docile and sweet; Dolly, a black and white tuxedo cat who has never been outdoors but loves to watch the world from a window ledge; Gracie, a long-haired, smoky gray, very affectionate and loves to be brushed; Angel, a newer resident who is a female flame point Siamese who loves older people, children and other cats; Tinkerbelle, a lovely tabby and white cat with big white double paws who gets along well with all the other cats but seems to be afraid of dogs; Oprah, a young tortoiseshell; Hezzie, a beautiful pale yellow tabby who looks like a lion and has really come out of his shell lately; Chester, an indoor-outdoor gray and white, very lovable boy; Andy, a very young gray, almost a kitten still, who loves people but not other cats (we aren’t sure about whether he likes dogs); and Callie, a medium long-haired, black sweetheart.

Piggy Sue and Mocha, the two guinea pigs, are still with us and have their own nice cage. When they hear the refrigerator door open they squeak! They love to eat greens and guinea pig food.

Rascal, our one dog, has become the pet of the shelter since he has been neutered; he loves children and adults and doesn’t seem to be bothered by cats. He just loves to go for long walks and we have a wonderful volunteer who takes him for great walks in the woods and up and down the path and even to the beach.

The telephone number at the shelter is 508-627-8662; the hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
