The 4-and-1 Vineyarders’ quest for an Eastern Athletic Conference championship suffered a major blow on Friday as undefeated league opponent Somerset shut them out for a second straight year in a 40-0 drubbing. Led by senior runningback Seth DeMello, the Raiders set the tone early with a 34-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. DeMello added touchdown runs of one yard and a fourth quarter 55-yard exclamation mark to cap a 228-yard day. Quarterback Adam LeDoux added three touchdowns of his own to seal the victory. Even vuvuzelas couldn’t awaken the Vineyard offense on a blustery Friday evening as it managed only 53 yards total on the night. The Vineyarders next game is at Cape Cod Tech this Saturday at 1 p.m.
