Transportation Meeting

A public meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 1, to discuss the 2011 Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transportation Plan.

The plan to provide a more balanced, safe and affordable integrated transportation system for the Island is being prepared by the Martha’s Vineyard Commission in cooperation with the Martha’s Vineyard joint transportation committee, made up of representatives of all Island towns.

Transportation issues, objectives and both short and long-term project priorities for the next 20 years are addressed; the current update will include new sections on climate change and livability.

The preparation and adoption of the plan is a prerequisite for Island towns obtaining annual federal and state funding for transportation improvement projects.

The meeting will be at the MVC, 33 New York avenue in Oak Bluffs. Light refreshments will be served.
