The Annual Black Powder Shoot, enabling the primitive firearms shooters to make ready for their hunting season, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Rod and Gun Club in Edgartown.

Both traditional and modern black powder firearms may be used, with prizes awarded in both primitive and modern categories. For the fourth year, the club also will be awarding a plaque and $100 cash prize named the Bill Nicholson Award, for the outstanding black powder participant. The winner’s name also will be engraved on the club’s perpetual plaque. This award is being established and sponsored by Bill’s longtime friend Eddie Belisle.

This event is open to the public. Refreshments will be available for competitors and spectators throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
