Through Song

Nick Page believes that we make the world a better place through our singing and he is not afraid to talk the talk.

Mr. Page is the author of three books for teachers including the songbooks Sing with Us (Hal Leonard) and Sing and Shine (World Music Press). His articles have appeared in numerous music journals and he has more than 65 published choral pieces.

He also walks the walk. Mr. Page has been a conductor with the Chicago Children’s Choir and he currently directs the Mystic Chorale of Boston. He also leads sings and workshops throughout the Americas and Europe and has guest conducted at many festivals and concert venues including Carnegie Hall.

And now he is coming to Martha’s Vineyard to act as the choral clinician for this year’s all-Island choral festival.

The result of this work will be a free public concert on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at the high school. Students in grades six through twelve who have been working with Mr. Page will present the concert.

For those who don’t want to just listen, Mr. Page will also be conducting a singing workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. also at the Performing Arts Center. The cost for this workshop is $10.
