Been walking the walk but don’t know how to talk the talk? On Saturday, Jan. 22 Perry Garfinkel, a contributor to the New York Times, National Geographic and the Huffington Post, will lead an all-day travel writing workshop for those with the itch to tell their tales of the road.

The seminar will explore the entire writing process, from idea formulation to the finished product. So reach into your experience bag and come prepared with ideas.

The day will also include a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the publishing arena. Participants will learn what editors are looking for and how to supply it with pitching demonstrations and mock editorial brainstorming sessions.

Mr. Garfinkel is the author of Buddha or Bust and Travel Writing for Profit and Pleasure, which travel book guru Arthur Frommer called, “the definitive work in the field.”

The workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at his home in West Tisbury. The fee of $150 includes lunch and wine and cheese afterwards. A maximum of 10 participants assures individual attention and feedback.

To register and for further information, e-mail Mr. Garfinkel at perrygarfinkel@aol.com or call 508-693-9305 or 774-563-8105.

Mr. Garfinkel will also be giving a talk on Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the West Tisbury library entitled Third Eye on India. He has just returned from five months in India and will be discussing what he learned in India about creating a welcoming spirit at home, work, in relationships, and within oneself. This event is free and refreshments will be served.
