Violet Cabot reviews a program of short films for a family film screening on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center.

Strega Nona is a story about Big Anthony not doing what he was told. The story of Strega Nona takes place in Italy. Strega Nona means grandma witch. In this story, Strega Nona goes away and her assistant, Big Anthony, makes pasta in the magic pot when he was told not to. You won’t believe what happens next. I would recommend this film to everyone.

The Amazing Bone is an exciting film about Pearl the pig and how she has a spectacular adventure with a talking bone. This is based on the book by William Steig. It will keep you guessing about what will happen until the very end. I think this animated film will be fun for kids of all ages and adults.

Wiggles and Giggles is an exciting film that is only about one minute long. I enjoyed it because you have to look carefully or else you won’t see the details. I liked the horse the most because it is funny when it moves around. This film has sketches, which look like someone drew it with a few colored pencils. I bet a lot of people, including adults, will like it.

Attraction is a film that you have to look carefully when you watch it, or you won’t know what it means. The message of the story is about friendship and not to judge people by how they look. It will make you have to think about what is going on.

Beast of Monsieur Racine is a French film that is funny and surprising at the same time. The film is about how Mr. Racine has great pears growing on a tree and a beast tries to eat them and the beast becomes his friend. I will leave the rest for you to find out!

This is the House that Jack Built is an animated film about a well known nursery rhyme that has been around for hundreds of years. I like how it starts with everyone that stars in it in “no particular order.” I also like the illustrations. I think that many people will like it because it was interesting that they keep reproducing a story that has been around for so long. The original nursery rhyme was first published in 1755, illustrated by Randolph Caldecott. It probably arrived from a Hebrew chant from the 16th century.

Runaway is an animated film from Canada. It is about a crazy train ride where everything goes wrong and they run out of fuel, lose cars and much, much more! It is humorous and exciting even though you can’t understand what the people are saying. Wait until you see what happens with the train. I enjoyed it because the characters looked silly and each train car had people with different personalities.

I hope that a lot of people will come and enjoy the film festival on Feb. 5.
