Walking the Outdoor Walk

Oh, the snow. Oh, the cold. Oh, what shall we do? How will we survive?

First step is to turn off the weather channel and head outdoors. No matter what Jim Cantore says, the king of weather catastrophe hyperbole, a bit of winter weather is something to enjoy rather than fear.

But if you’re still shaking in your unused Yaktrax, maybe heading out into the snowy outdoors with some seasoned professionals is the ticket.

On Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. the Polly Hill Arboretum will be hosting another one of their winter walks. Arboretum staff will be leading the way and pointing out some of the natural highlights this season has to offer. Tree bark and the very structure of the forest, its bones if you will, get the chance to take center stage, now that the grandstanding leaves have given way.

The tour lasts just over an hour and is free. Meet at the visitor center. For more information, call 508-693-9426.
