Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has taken in one new animal this week: a beautiful, young, brown and white guinea pig, a stray who was picked up by the Edgartown animal control officer at the Boneyard (across the street from the Stop and Shop). If you have lost this charming little critter please stop by the shelter; otherwise it will be available for adoption.

Cats at the shelter are: Binx, a black and white kitty with long, white whiskers; Phoebe, a sweet ginger and white cat; Woody, an all-black long-haired female cat; Maxine, a sweet tabby; Alexander, a big, gorgeous orange Vineyard coon cat; June, a gentle calico who wandered into the Harbor View Hotel kitchen and is no doubt someone’s lost pet; and Foxy Lady, who was surrendered to the shelter for adoption because her owner died.

The shelter’s one dog is Bella, a fawn boxer cross who has become the darling of the shelter. She loves everyone including other dogs, cats, kids and adults.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 190, Edgartown MA 02539.
