Already put away your royal wedding hat? Well, no matter, because tomorrow when the greatest two minutes in sports occurs at that annual sporting event which is simultaneously a fashion event — that is, the Kentucky Derby — Vineyard style is officially part of it: Vineyard Vines has been exclusively named as the “official style of the Kentucky Derby.”

Brothers Shep and Ian Murray, chief executives and cofounders of Vineyard Vines, have a multiyear licensing partnership with Churchill Downs Racetrack, where the Derby is run.

Inspired by racing silks —those colors and styles that distinguish a stable’s jockeys — Vineyard Vines has halter tops in diamond, checker and polka dot patterns, and a silk twill dress called Run for the Roses, plus custom-designed scarves, hats and handbags.

Joining the famous Vineyard Vines whale tie are horseshoes, mint juleps, little bits (as in bridle bits) and other styles called Off to the Race and Run for the Roses. Naturally, they all come in bow or neckties, plus there are pocket squares, belts and a derby blazer too.

This is the first time that Churchill Downs has partnered with a clothing brand to create an official fashion collection associated with the Kentucky Derby.

The Vineyard Vines for Kentucky Derby collection will be sold at all Vineyard Vines free-standing stores (including the store in Edgartown) and selected wholesale accounts and department stores nationwide, as well as through the official Kentucky Derby online store and at vineyardvines.com.

The 137th Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs begins just after 6 p.m.
