Detective Victoria Turnbull is at it once again, sleuthing out the latest Vineyard mystery in The Bee Balm Murders. The fictional character created by writer, activist and innkeeper Cynthia Riggs may be 92 years old, but she isn’t slowing down in the least.

Neither is her creator.

This is Ms. Riggs 10th book and she has another one, Victoria Turnbull’s Martha’s Vineyard (a guidebook to accompany the Martha’s Vineyard mystery series), due out later this spring. She, meaning Ms. Riggs not Ms. Turnbull, also holds a writers’ salon, teaches sailing, runs a ferry boat company, works as a rigger at the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard, bench-presses beached whales and has decided to forgo sleeping just because she can. Okay, maybe the last two are exaggerations.

But come see for yourself on Thursday, June 9 at 5 p.m. when Ms. Riggs reads from The Bee Balm Murders at the West Tisbury Public Library. It’s free, with refreshments.
