Tonight’s gibbous moon appears close to the bright ringed-planet Saturn. Both are in the zodiacal constellation Virgo.

This is a good time to look for Saturn, aided by the moonlight. Saturn is next to a faint star in Virgo called Gamma Virginis. Saturn and the star are especially close tomorrow night. Saturn will dance near the star through the month.

Later this weekend, the moon advances into the zodiacal constellation Libra.

The moon is full on Wednesday and in the zodiacal constellation Scorpius, near Sagittarius. On the Vineyard we call this the Summer Moon. The full moon in June is the lowest and most southern full moon of the year.

The morning sky offers three visible planets. Venus is the brightest, just above the eastern horizon before sunrise. Above Venus is Mars, much more faint. High in the east, above Venus and Mars is the bright planet Jupiter.

Mars and Venus are in the zodiacal constellation Taurus. Jupiter is in the zodiacal constellation Aries.
