Who’s to say you didn’t walk the earth before. Maybe you were Joan of Arc or Genghis Khan. Then again, the possibility that you were Robert Smith Nobody or Abigail Nevermind Never Did Nothing is also just as likely. So are scenarios of brief lives as grasshoppers or species of spiders. The possibilities are endless. And we’ll never really know, right?

Well, on Monday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at the West Tisbury Library, the past will become a bit more distinct when Alison David Bird takes the stage to discuss the evolution of the soul through reincarnation.

Ms. Bird was born in England, this time around at least. She is certified as a hypnotherapist by the Hypnosis Motivational Institute in California, the center for Kappasonian Hypnotherapy. On Monday she will lead a group session in which participants will enter hypnosis and regress for a glimpse of past incarnations. Way cool.

But this journey is not just about dabbling in a mysterious realm. Ms. Bird is a healer who combines hypnotherapy with circle therapy and dream therapy to diminish and vent harmful memories, experiences and influences that may affect our lives and prevent us from functioning as happy, healthy and balanced individuals. Her unique approach of layered treatment is a synthesis of science and spirituality inspired by The Ancient Wisdom.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
