The Steamship Authority will meet on the Island on Tuesday, July 19, at 9:30 a.m. to discuss, among other items, the proposed closure of the Martha’s Vineyard reservations office.

The meeting is at Katharine Cornell Theatre on Spring street in Vineyard Haven. It is open to the public.

The boatline cannot extend the current lease on its office at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport beyond the end of January next year. At last month’s meeting, SSA general manager Wayne Lamson said the end of the lease at the current site “gives us an opportunity to take a step back and see if it’s something we still want to continue.”

He left open the options of whether to look for another branch office site, or whether it should centralize bookings at its year-round Vineyard Haven and seasonal Oak Bluffs terminals.
