Tomorrow night, Saturday, July 23, the Louisa Gould Gallery is hosting an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. entitled Vineyard Reflections. The event celebrates the work of Joan Kennedy, Kate Huntington, Anthony Benton Gude and Kathryn Wronski and includes works that reflect each artist’s interpretation of the Island in their own medium.

Joan Kennedy, a long-time summer resident, has created a number of colored oils on canvas that reflect a feeling of “peace and unity” with the landscape. Anthony Benton Gude also works in oils, in addition to watercolors. His exhibit features many paintings done in late fall and midwinter and reflect “the vivid fall colors and then the stark harshness of the winter landscape.” The image, Chilmark Overlook, harks back to the work of his late grandfather, Thomas Hart Benton.

Kate Huntington’s canvases suggest a more casual, relaxed feeling of summer on the Vineyard. Kathryn Wronski also leans to the lighthearted in her work featuring smiling dogs, cows, and brightly colored backgrounds.

The Louisa Gould Gallery is located at 54 Main street in Vineyard Haven.
