Artist Ned Reade will be busy at the Old Sculpin gallery this week. On Sunday, July 31, he is taking part in an art opening at Old Sculin Gallery that will also feature Rosalie Shane, Sharon McCann Daly, and Ann Howes. On Thursday, August 4 at 6 p.m., he will present a gallery talk about his new work.

Mr. Reade is Chairman of the Arts Department at the Trinity-Pawling School. Here on the Vineyard he serves on the Board of Directors of the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association. His exhibit is entitled Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer and features numerous scenes of the summer on the Island including a summer porch festooned with hanging baskets and a flag, sun-drenched spectators at a tennis match, and Vineyard beaches.

Rosalie Ripaldi Shane is the managing owner of Saxonville Studios in Framingham, Mass. Her cupcake paintings will be complimented by her own cupcakes during Sunday’s reception.

Ann Howes works with watercolor and feels that her art “should transmit a feeling as well as visual stimulation.”

Sharon McCann Daly has lived her entire life along the coasts of New York and southern New England. She works with pastels and oils and last year won first place awards in both categories at the All Island Art Show.

The art opening takes place between 5 and 7 p.m.
