Summer is on the wane and now, admit it, you’re thinking, yikes, in trying to do everything, be everywhere, have the best summer ever, you forgot how to relax on your vacation. Never fear, there is still time to change course.

This Saturday, August 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Waban Park in Oak Bluffs, the wind festival is blowing in to help everyone downshift a bit and remember that summer was really made for sitting back and doing nothing more strenuous than flying a kit. Charlie Brown enthusiasts are excused from reminding everyone that kite flying is not without its potential frustrations. The festival organizers have taken this into account. Waban Park is nearly treeless and situated right off Inkwell Beach, the park is always awash in ocean breezes guaranteed to make every kite flyer look like a professional.

But it won’t just be about kites. All manner of wind-powered crafts and toys will be in attendance. Frisbee anyone?

The event is free.

Rain date is Sunday, August 28.
