Two pending cases in Edgartown district court this week were placed on the docket for early November, one involving an Aquinnah man accused in a stabbing where the victim later died, the other involving a prominent Edgartown attorney who faces criminal charges of embezzlement.

Ovando Eghill is facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after a stabbing incident in June in downtown Vineyard Haven. The victim in the incident, 45-year-old Michael Trusty of Edgartown, died later at a Boston hospital. As a result of the death Mr. Eghill may be facing additional charges; the case is scheduled for a probable cause hearing before a district court judge on Nov. 4.

On the same day the criminal case against Edward W. Vincent Jr. is scheduled for disposition before a district court judge. Mr. Vincent, a well-known Edgartown attorney, has been accused of mishandling funds in two unrelated real estate deals. Two separate civil cases against him were dismissed in April when he made restitution of some $700,000 to the parties involved. Last month his license to practice law was temporarily suspended by the Office of the Bar Counsel for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

Criminal charges were filed against Mr. Vincent by the Cape and Islands district attorney.
