With the exception of the football team, which has three games remaining on its schedule, the regular fall season wrapped up last week.

Boys’ Soccer

The boys finished the season undefeated in the league, taking home the EAC Championship for the first time, and will continue to tournament play over the weekend (seeding was unavailable at press time).

The boys played division one powerhouse Barnstable to a 1-1 tie last Thursday, with the Vineyard’s goal coming off a Jack Roberts penalty kick.

On Tuesday, the team took on Bishop Feehan for their final conference game, defeating the Shamrocks 4-2. Seniors Rodrigo Honorato and John Marcal put the Vineyarders up early with one goal each (assists coming from Marcal and Roberts, respectively), but a lull in play allowed Feehan to come back and tie the game. Roberts knocked in the winning goal on an assist from junior Marc Natichioni, while Linycker Souza scored the go-ahead on an assist from junior Martin Aranzabe.

Roberts, Marcal and senior John Olivera finish the season ranked first, third and fifth, respectively, in the league for points scored. Senior goalkeeper Rafael Maciel is ranked fifth in the EAC.

Football

The Vineyarders fell 35-0 to visiting Bishop Feehan last Friday, but look to rebound tonight as they take on 1-7 Bishop Stang in an away game.

The team returns to the Island next week to take on Medford, and travels to Nantucket Nov. 18 for the final game of the season.

Cross-Country

The team traveled to the Eastern Athletic Conference championship meet on Saturday, taking on Bishop Feehan, Bishop Stang, Somerset and Coyle Cassidy.
