Youth Hockey Signup

Grow MV Youth Hockey is offering an instructional winter session for four-to nine-year-olds to try ice hockey this winter at the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena in Oak Bluffs. The program is free for birth year 2005 and younger and $30 for older youngsters. Beginner skaters will be coached and learn basic ice skating and ice hockey skills while playing fun games on the ice.

Ice times are typically Saturdays 8:30 a.m. and Wednesdays 4 p.m., with some Sundays 8:30 a.m. A total of 14 skate times will be offered from early January through mid-March. Initial registration was on Jan. 7, but participants may register at any time.

There are two registration steps: USA Hockey (usahockey.com) online and MVYH registration (mvyh.org). Download and print MV youth hockey forms and bring them to the first practice.

Recommended local options for ice hockey equipment include new equipment for sale at the MV Arena pro shop and used equipment available on loan from MVYH. Come early to prepare for ice time.

For more information contact Andrew Grant, MVYH House Coordinator, icehouse@amacontheweb.com.

GROW MVYH is a new initiative of MV Youth Hockey to introduce more children to the exciting sport of ice hockey. Funding for the program comes from local fund-raising events and private donations.
