The Mites had an exciting two days of play last week, defeating Gateway 3-1 on Sunday in an away match and traveling to the Garden in Boston itself on Saturday to play a scrimmage between periods of the Bruins/Penguins game. Congratulations to the Mites for their “three minutes of fame!”

The Squirts took a pair of losses from Somerset/Watuppa/Swansea (SWS) this weekend, despite strong scoring efforts from the team. The first match ended 4-3, with Hunter Ponte notching each of the Vineyard goals and assists coming from Cabot Thurber. During the second SWS game, the Vineyarders fell 8-5; Hunter Meador scored twice, with Hunter Ponte, Cabot Thurber and Felix Colon each contributing a score. Hailey Meador turned in 3 assists and Joe Kershaw was solid in goal.

On Sunday, the Peewees took on Lower Cape in a doubleheader. Colin Buckley and Jacob Gunderson each scored unassisted goals; Jacob also scored on an assist from Jack Garrett. Lower Cape proved a strong opponent, however, and took both games, 5-3 and 4-3.
