Junior Little League Opens

Martha’s Vineyard Little League is starting a new Junior League for boys and girls ages 13 to 15 years old.

The Junior League is designed to enable players to continue their Little League experience after age 12, and introduce them to playing on a regulation size baseball field.

The league has been made possible by the efforts of the Little League board of directors, along with support from high school coach Gary Simmons, Vineyard Baseball and the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. Practices and games will be held on the high school junior varsity field. The league will also have access to the new indoor batting cage at the high school.

The Junior League will consist of four teams, including travel teams that will play other Junior League teams from Cape Cod and beyond. The coordinator is former Little League president Kris Lukowitz.
