Earth Day Beach Cleanup
Mother Earth needs you, all over the world, but here on the Vineyard, it’s her beachy bits that need the most care. That’s why on Earth Day, Saturday, April 21, the Vineyard Conservation Society is hosting its 20th annual beach cleanup day.
This is a choose-your-own-beach kind of day. Participating beaches include Lobsterville, Philbin, and Tribal Beaches in Aquinnah; Squibnocket, Menemsha and Lucy Vincent in Chilmark; Fuller Street, Wilson’s Landing, Lighthouse Beach, South Beach and State Beach (Bend in the Road) in Edgartown; Eastville Point, State Beach (Little Bridge) and Town Beach in Oak Bluffs; Lagoon Pond Landing, Lake Street Landing, Tashmoo Opening, Owen Little Way, Grove Ave. Beach, Mink Meadows, Hines Point, Owen Park and Vineyard Haven Harbor in Tisbury; and Cedar Tree Neck and Lambert’s Cove in West Tisbury.
Official hours from 10 a.m. to noon. Afterward, join other pickers at the Wharf in Edgartown from noon to 2 p.m. for Flatbread pizza and tale swapping about who found the biggest, most frightening piece of litter.
