The girls' tennis team's day trip to the semifinals of the MIAA Division 3 South Section tournament has turned into a drama-filled extravaganza: with the away match against Cohasset tied at 2-2 after over five hours of play, the Vineyarders had to leave the courts to make the last boat home. They will resume play tomorrow, back at Cohasset.

Only one match remains incomplete, senior Wendy Wen's third singles match. Wen was down 1-4 in her second set, having won the first 6-0.

Both doubles matches went to three sets and lasted over three and a half hours, with Julia Cooper and Annabelle Hackney winning 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 and Alyssa Adler and Dylan Brockmeyer falling in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 1-6.

The team began play indoors, but time limitations on the courts forced the match to be moved to an outdoor site.

The Vineyard and Cohasset have identical records (18-2) and are seeded 3 and 2 in the division. Last year, the Vineyarders defeated Cohasset 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
