Much to the dismay of Celtics fans, Miami brought the Heat that lit up the NBA this year. But basketball is back, and it’s time for Islanders to stir up some heat on the courts.

The tenth annual Vineyard Streetball Classic three-on-three basketball tournament takes center court at Niantic Park in Oak Bluffs on Tuesday, July 3, beginning at 10 a.m.

The tournament benefits the Boys and Girls Club by raising money to provide 10 summer camp scholarships for Island youth. Supporters in the community can buy T-shirts, and local businesses can make donations to sponsor the participating teams, which consist of students age 10 to 18 from across the Northeast.

Play is double-elimination with trophies for the winners. For those on the sidelines, there’s a snack bar and live music, in addition to the basketball, that is. Irie Bites food truck will be courtside with jerk chicken, salads, wraps, fried plantains and more. Five per cent of food sales will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.
