The Aquinnah Public Library will present Nicole Galland, who will discuss her latest book, I, Iago, inspired by William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Othello. A timeless tale of friendship and treachery, love and jealousy. I, Iago sheds fascinating new light on a complex soul, and on the conditions and fateful events that helped to create a monster. Nicole resides in West Tisbury, where she grew up. She is also the co-creator of Shakespeare for the masses at the Vineyard Playhouse. She will speak at the Aquinnah town hall on Thursday, July 12, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The Screenwriter’s Daughter, by Larry Mollin, long-time Aquinnah resident and executive producer of Beverly Hills 90210, will be performed at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Performing Arts Center this evening at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35, and $30 for seniors. Ella Dershowitz and David Nathan Gerson will be performing. If you miss the performance this evening, you will be able to enjoy it on July 7, 12, 13 and 14.

Artists and friends Ray Ellis and Allen Whiting will begin the summer Speakeasy Series of author talks on Wednesday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Granary Gallery on Old County Road. The Granary and State Road Restaurant, in collaboration with the West Tisbury Library Foundation, Inc., are presenting this series of intimate evenings with noted authors to benefit the library capital campaign. Hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $75 per person or $200 for the summer series. For reservations, please call Carol Brush at 508-693-3489, or for further information, please go to wtlibraryfoundation.org.

Bill and Joan Kistner returned to their home in New York this past week after spending most of the past two months at the home of Paul and Theresa Manning, and especially enjoying the daily activities of our grandson Noah. We look forward to their return soon.

Judy Lane and her husband, Mark Mattson, have arrived to spend the summer at their home on State Road. They were accompanied by their son Ian, while their son Roger is in camp for another week. Judy recently returned from a six-week trip to Africa, where she has been assisting a village for the past few years.

Monday afternoon tea with Johanna Roses at her amazing home in Oak Bluffs was enjoyed by our dear friends Hannah Malkin, Betty Joslow, Joseph Spinelli and yours truly. A lovely afternoon for all and a lot of laughter and cheer.

Upon leaving the lovely byway from Johanna’s, Betty and I made a quick stop by the home of Pamela Maine Cavanaugh and her sister, Susan, and their families. Pam and I were schoolmates in Pleasantville, N.Y. more than half a century ago and had not seen each other for 38 years. We anticipate having lunch together soon and, hopefully, with fellow schoolmate Dr. Sara Rosenthal, who is presently at her West Tisbury home.
