It is the week of two big birthdays. There was that affair of the country on July 4, red, white and blue with flags waving and fireworks bursting.

Closer to home, there is the birth of Tisbury.

This is the 41st year for the street fair, established in 1971 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the town. The revelers will throng to Main street in Vineyard Haven on Sunday, July 8, beginning at 6 p.m.

There will be food, oh yes, there will be food. There will be games. There will be music, dunking booths, pony rides, climbing walls and firemen, too.

Simply put, there will be the Vineyard, in all its summer glory, in one place, at one time.

Last year over 100 vendors lined the streets and 1000 plus clams were shucked and slurped by 8 p.m. Wash it all down with funnel cake and good cheer.

Happy Birthday, Tisbury.
