Hello again, everyone — the column stopped for a few weeks but is back now.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has some beautiful cats available for adoption. They are: Butter and Chloe, two beautiful tortoiseshells; Deacon and Mango, two handsome ginger tiger cats; Panchie, a gray and white whose owner died recently; Thor, a big, older gentleman who really needs to have a home of his own. The shelter also has two adorable tiger kittens, Julia and Meredith, who are only six or seven weeks old and may be adopted by the time this appears in print. Anyone who wants a kitten may sign up on the shelter wish list and will be called as soon as one becomes available for adoption.

The shelter needs cleaning supplies, including laundry soap, dish soap and paper towels. Donations of unopened cat and dog food are always appreciated.

Shelter hours are Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
