Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

We would like to take an opportunity to publicly thank the two Edgartown police officers who kindly procured a taxi for us last Saturday evening (the last night of our wonderful Vineyard vacation!) after an Adam Cab refused to take us home. The officers were helping to control the many cars and people congregating near the Atlantic Club and Dock street taxi stand. When we were unable to find a taxi to take our fare, we asked the officers [mostly out of curiosity] if a taxi was allowed to turn us down for a ride within Edgartown. The officers said no and immediately placed a call to find a taxi for us and another couple in the same situation. We very much appreciate their help.
