The paintings of Anne Martin will be on display at the West Tisbury Library for the month of September.

A graduate of the University of Virginia and Mass College of Art, and a student of Neil Welliver’s, artist Anne Martin has been a summer resident for 50 years. Six years ago her garage was transformed into a spacious studio. Much of what she paints comes from visions retained, from sketches made on-site and sometimes from photographs reinterpreted. The ideas for this show came from neighboring Blue Barque Road where the colors of the fields and trees shaped by wind are her inspiration.

Anne enjoys painting in oils because their malleability and richness of texture and color convey the essence of Martha’s Vineyard.

This ongoing event is free and open to the public.
