The Irish are coming and they are related.

On Friday, Oct. 5, the brothers Vallely, Niall and Cillian, are playing a concert at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven. Nial plays the concertina and Cillian rocks the uilliann pipes and low whistle. Usually they play in their own bands, Buille and Lunasa, respectively, but for one night only for Vineyard audiences the boys will share the measure of their genes together.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. and even if there was no playbill and the names of the performers a mystery, the show would be worth seeing. KCT concerts only brings the best in traditional music to our shores, and the Island is better, or at least more musically attuned for it.

But in this case the show will be extra rewarding. Cillian has recorded over 40 albums and with his band Lunasa has toured the world. He has also performed with Natalie Merchant and Mary Chapin-Carpenter.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and available at Above Ground Records, Alley’s General Store, Island Entertainment, Scottish Bakehouse and Oak Bluffs General Store.
