Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

Don Ogden is correct in response to my letter when he wrote that conservation would “go much toward reducing CO2 emissions.” But I must remind Mr. Ogden that he lives on an Island that gets its electricity from a large cable, virtually no energy is produced on Martha’s Vineyard. So unless energy consumption on the Island goes to zero, the energy must come from somewhere. Why wouldn’t we choose a renewable energy source like wind? It is not a question of conservation or energy production to address climate change, rather conservation and less reliance on fossil fuel.
