A Worcester man was arraigned Tuesday in Edgartown district court on cocaine trafficking charges.

Bail was set at $30,000 for John J. Polydores, 30, who was charged with trafficking in cocaine after police allegedly found 52 grams of cocaine at the Edgartown home where he was staying.

According to the police report, members of the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force became aware that Mr. Polydores would be bringing cocaine to the Island, and that he had an active warrant out of Worcester superior court for failing to appear for probation. Police said they learned he was staying with his uncle at a home on 12th street in Edgartown, and after doing surveillance, they arrested Mr. Polydores after he drove away from the home.

The report said that after obtaining a search warrant, police allegedly found plastic bags containing a substance similar to cocaine inside a sweat sock in the pocket of the hooded sweatshirt in the room where Mr. Polydores was staying.
