An Edgartown man facing charges of illegally practicing law and taking money from clients was arraigned this month on charges of identity fraud.

John C. McBride, 63, of Edgartown, was arraigned Oct. 12 in Edgartown district court on two counts of identity fraud on June 19 in Edgartown. According to police reports filed in court, Mr. McBride did some financial work late last spring for a woman, and then allegedly attempted to apply for a car loan at Herb Chambers Dodge in Danvers using her social security number.

Last fall, Mr. McBride was charged with unlawfully practicing law, taking thousands of dollars from someone who hired him to perform legal services, larceny more than $250, a removed attorney practicing law and an unauthorized practicing of law.

A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 30.
