The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.
Maria A. Andrade, 36, of Oak Bluffs, had June 10 Oak Bluffs charges of assault and battery and vandalizing property dismissed upon request of the commonwealth without prejudice.
Benjamin E. Haas, 34, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on August 2 charges in Vineyard Haven of forgery of a check and larceny by check over $250. Alleged to have stolen 12 checks from a check ledger at Martha’s Vineyard Moving and Storage, then forged and cashed eight of the checks at Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank. In separate cases, same defendant also arraigned on charges from August 3, August 8, August 13, August 15, and August 20 in Vineyard Haven of forgery of a check and larceny by check over $250. Pretrial hearing for all cases set for Jan 24.
Henry T. Parent, 21, of Edgartown, arraigned on Dec. 2 charges in Vineyard Haven of malicious destruction of property over $250 and conspiracy. Pre-trial hearing set for Jan. 7. Alleged to have conspired with two others to smash the windows of a woman’s car with golf clubs.
Morgan D. Rogers, 21, of West Tisbury, placed on pre-trial probation for six months for a Nov. 6 charge in West Tisbury of assault and battery.
Cheranne L. Willoughby, 31, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to Oct. 16 charges in Edgartown of forgery of check and uttering a false check, ordered to pay $950 in restitution, and placed on probation for 18 months. Must remain drug and alcohol-free with testing and submit DNA sample for both charges. Alleged to have stolen checks from parents, made them out to herself and cashed them at Edgartown National Bank. Also pleaded guilty to Oct. 17 charges in Edgartown of two counts of forgery of a check and two counts of uttering a false check. Placed on probation for 18 months, concurrent with another charge.
Emily Billing, 30, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on a Dec. 20 charge in Edgartown of trespassing. Pretrial hearing set for Jan. 3.
Tonia Mccarthy, 42, of Vineyard Haven, admitted to sufficient facts on a Dec. 23 charge in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $50 fine and not abuse the victim.
Dio D. Brown, 29, of Springfield, had a July 27 Vineyard Haven charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle dismissed upon request of the commonwealth. An additional charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license will be dismissed upon payment of $250 court costs by March 27.
Jennifer L. Koon, 29, of Oak Bluffs pleaded not guilty to a West Tisbury July 2, 2010 charge of defrauding an innkeeper over $100. Pre-trial hearing set for Feb. 28. Jonathan M. Lopes, 31, of Bourne, pleaded guilty to June 17 Oak Bluffs charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery. Sentenced to one year in the house of correction, suspended 18 months, and placed on probation for 18 months, ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness fee, have no contact with victim and remain alcohol-free with random screens for the assault and battery charge. Ordered to pay a $50 fine for the disorderly conduct charge. Alleged to have head-butted a patron upon leaving the Lampost.
Jane V. Thomas, 48, of Marshfield, arraigned on an August 16 Edgartown charge of larceny by check over $250. Ordered to pay $539.69 in restitution and placed on probation for six months.
Jane V. Thomas, 48, of Oak Bluffs arraigned on an Oct. 9 Oak Bluffs charge of evading a taxi fare, ordered to pay $105 in restitution and placed on probation for six months.
