The Martha's Vineyard Ice Arena will be bustling this weekend with the start of the 16th Annual Fairleigh S. Dickinson Tournament on Saturday. The tournament, held in honor of arena benefactor Farleigh Dickinson, spotlights the Vineyarders and visiting Westwood, Weston and Lynnfield.

Westwood and Weston hit the ice Saturday at 5 p.m. The Vineyard takes on Lynnfield at 7 p.m.

The tournament’s consolation game and championship match take place Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

The boys are hoping to replicate the success of last week, when they beat visiting Nantucket 7-2. With the win, they moved to a 12-4-1 record for the season.

The girls’ hockey team, though not participating in the tournament, will also take to the arena home ice. They host Marshfield at 1 p.m. In the teams’ previous meeting, the Vineyard took a close 3-2 loss.

The girls will close out their season with a grueling schedule; after the Marshfield game, they will travel to Northeastern University to play Latin Academy on Monday for their third game in four days. The team is coming off a rough 4-0 loss to league-leading Norwell. They are currently 9-5-2.

Across the street from the arena, boys’ basketball hosts Tech Boston Academy on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the Sancy Pachico Gym.

The team is looking to close out their season with a win after dropping two tight games to Dartmouth and Abington last week. The Vineyarders fell 56-54 to Abington on Tuesday, yielding two turnovers in the final minutes of the game to give the Green Wave the edge they needed. Abington’s best player, Brandon Cawley, scored 11 points in the final quarter alone. Vineyard senior Jack Roberts led the team in scoring with 15 points. Senior Liam Weston had 11 points.

The Vineyarders are now 14-5.

Girls’ basketball is away for their final two games, which take place next week.
