Two men are facing charges including assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after a fight Saturday night in Oak Bluffs.

Patrece L. Petersen, 40, of Edgartown and Darryl Baptiste, 35, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were arraigned Monday in Edgartown District Court after police said they were involved in a fight at the Ritz Cafe.

Mr. Petersen was charged with assault to murder, assault and battery and disorderly conduct, and Mr. Baptiste was arraigned on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (razor) and assault and battery.

According to police reports filed in court, the two men were at the Ritz Cafe when Mr. Baptiste bumped into the alleged victim, causing the man to drop his drink. An argument later ensued, in which Mr. Baptiste allegedly slashed at the victim with a razor and Mr. Petersen allegedly choked the victim and yelled that he was going to kill him.

Police said the man attacked had abrasions and observable lacerations to his body and leather jacket.

Police searched for the two perpetrators, and they were arrested after police executed a search warrant at Mr. Petersen’s listed residence on Pilgrim Road.

Bail was set at $1,000 for Mr. Baptiste and $5,000 for Mr. Petersen. Both men met bail and were released, and pretrial hearings are set for April 12.
