During the fundraising efforts to keep WMVY alive on the internet, musicians wondered how they could help out.

“Lots of musicians came to us and asked what can we do,” said station manager Barbara Dacey. “But at that time we were just taking pledges.”

Now that the fundraising effort has been successful — $600,000 was raised in 60 days to keep the live stream going and, if driving through Newport, R.I., fans can listen on the radio at 96.5 — it’s time for the music to play. Live.

This Saturday night, March 16, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury, WMVY is throwing a thank you musical celebration for the whole community. Count on a host of Island musicians to be there leading the celebration in song.

“Now we can really say thank you,” Ms. Dacey said. “And musicians are putting their intention to help into the event.”

The evening is free. Everyone is welcome to bring a dessert to share if they want. It is also suggested to bring your own beverages.
